Job Overview:
A well-established law firm is seeking an experienced Associate Attorney to join its civil litigation team. The ideal candidate will have at least five years of progressively responsible experience in civil litigation, including demonstrated success in managing cases through all phases of litigation, from pre-trial to trial. Trial experience is a plus. The attorney will handle a diverse caseload, with opportunities to take on primary responsibility for certain matters while supporting senior attorneys on others. Duties:

  • Manage civil litigation cases from start to finish, including research, drafting, discovery, motion practice, and trial preparation.
  • Represent clients in court, including hearings, depositions, and trials (trial experience preferred).
  • Work closely with senior attorneys to develop case strategies and provide client updates.
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring high levels of service and communication.
  • Handle a variety of civil litigation matters, with opportunities for primary responsibility on some cases.
  • Collaborate within the firm’s litigation team to ensure effective and timely case management.

Requirements:

  • At least 5 years of experience in civil litigation, with a proven track record of managing cases through all phases of litigation.
  • Trial experience is preferred but not required.
  • Excellent legal research, writing, and advocacy skills.
  • Ability to handle a caseload with limited supervision while maintaining high-quality work.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Client-oriented with a focus on delivering excellent legal service.
  • Oregon Bar membership (or eligibility to become admitted in Oregon).

Education:

  • J.D. from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the Oregon State Bar is required.

  • Expertise in civil litigation, particularly in managing cases from inception to trial.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively handle depositions, court appearances, and settlement negotiations.
