Job Title: Patent Prosecution and Litigation Associate Attorney - IP Litigation

Job Overview: A prominent law firm located in Tysons Corner, VA is seeking an experienced Patent Prosecution and Litigation Associate Attorney to join its IP Litigation Team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in IP litigation, including handling depositions, expert witness coordination, case management, and trial procedures. Duties:

• Lead and manage patent litigation cases from initiation through trial, including drafting pleadings, motions, and other legal documents
• Take and defend depositions, and work closely with experts throughout the case process
• Coordinate and prepare cases for trial or PTAB proceedings
• Supervise junior associates and paralegals on litigation matters
• Handle case management, including strategizing and managing deadlines
• Maintain active communication with clients, providing status updates and strategic recommendations
• Work collaboratively with other attorneys on complex legal issues and litigation strategies
• Perform legal research and analysis to support litigation efforts
• Participate in settlement discussions and negotiations as necessary

Requirements:

• 3+ years of experience in IP litigation, including patent prosecution and litigation
• Proven ability to independently manage cases and supervise junior team members
• Experience in briefing, motions practice, taking depositions, expert coordination, and PTAB or trial proceedings
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
• Strong organizational and analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail
• Demonstrated outstanding written and oral communication abilities
• Must be licensed to practice law in Virginia or be able to become licensed promptly

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

• Admitted to practice before the USPTO is preferred
• Licensed to practice in Virginia or able to obtain licensure soon after joining

Skills:

• Patent litigation experience, including handling complex patent infringement and validity cases
• Strong research and writing skills for motion practice and trial preparation
• Expertise in taking depositions, working with experts, and managing trial procedures
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for client interaction and team collaboration
