Job Overview:

Duties:

  • Represent clients in detained and non-detained immigration proceedings, including before the Immigration Court and the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA).
  • Provide strategic legal advice regarding immigration law and present practical solutions to complex issues.
  • Manage and prioritize an active caseload of various immigration cases.
  • Conduct client intakes at detention centers for detained individuals and provide thorough legal counsel.
  • Prepare, file, and manage immigration applications, including family-based petitions, removal defense, and humanitarian relief cases.
  • Review client documents, applications, and evidence to ensure completeness and accuracy before submission to USCIS or other relevant bodies.
  • Prepare legal briefs, motions, and other filings in support of immigration petitions and court cases.
  • Engage with law enforcement agencies, prosecutorial offices, and community organizations to stay updated on relevant changes to immigration law.
  • Conduct client consultations and provide legal guidance on immigration strategies.
  • Develop case strategies, prepare clients and witnesses for hearings, and ensure readiness for immigration-related testimony.
  • Continuously assess case progress and provide ongoing legal analysis for clients’ immigration options.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 1-4 years of experience in immigration law.
  • Proven ability to manage a caseload effectively and move cases forward promptly.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with clients and colleagues.
  • Preferably bilingual, with fluency in both English and Spanish.
  • Experience handling Family-Based Petitions, Detained Cases, EOIR cases, Citizenship applications, and other USCIS-related petitions.
  • Proficiency with immigration case management software is a plus.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and communication skills.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the State Bar of California.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in good standing with the California State Bar.

Skills:

  • Deep understanding of immigration law and procedure.
  • Excellent case management and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong client management skills and ability to provide high-quality customer service.
  • Ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly to non-legal clients.
