Job Overview

A well-established law firm in Chicago is seeking a passionate and skilled Immigration Attorney with 1-3 years of experience in immigration law. The firm focuses primarily on immigration law, with a small portion of practice dedicated to uncontested divorces and obtaining predicate orders for Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS) clients. The ideal candidate will be an Illinois-licensed attorney with strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to helping immigrant clients navigate the complexities of immigration law.

Duties

  • Handle a wide variety of immigration cases, including family-based, employment-based, humanitarian, and removal defense
  • Manage case strategies independently and take creative approaches to solving legal issues
  • Communicate effectively with clients from diverse backgrounds
  • Research legal issues and draft legal documents, petitions, and motions
  • Represent clients in family and probate court when necessary (e.g., for SIJS cases)
  • Provide exceptional client service throughout all phases of case management
  • Collaborate closely with a small, dynamic team to meet client needs and case goals

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
  • Licensed to practice law in Illinois, in good standing
  • 1-3 years of experience in immigration law (preference given to those with diverse case experience)
  • Strong research and writing skills
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work well with clients from various cultural backgrounds
  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage a caseload and work independently
  • Preference for bilingual candidates fluent in both English and Spanish

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications

  • Active Illinois Bar membership in good standing
