A law firm seeks a detail-oriented and motivated Junior Associate Attorney to join their team in Malden, MA. This position offers the opportunity to work alongside senior attorneys and contribute to a variety of legal areas, including immigration, family law, probate, and criminal law. The ideal candidate should possess strong communication skills, organizational ability, and a passion for practicing law in a fast-paced environment.

Duties:

  • Legal Research & Drafting: Assist senior attorneys in researching and drafting legal documents, including pleadings, motions, petitions, defenses, briefs, and memorandums.
  • Document Preparation: Prepare and assemble applications, filings, state and federal legal forms, and supporting documentation for clients, agencies, and courts.
  • Client Representation: Represent clients at hearings and interviews before the DOJ-EOIR, Massachusetts Probate and Family Courts, State District Courts, and USCIS.
  • Client Interviews & Intake: Conduct client interviews and case information intake, offering advice on legal matters and case strategies.
  • Case Management: Monitor and document important case developments, court dates, and deadlines. Keep clients updated on the status of their cases.
  • Detention Facility Visits: Conduct client visits at ICE, state, and federal detention facilities as necessary.
  • Client Communication: Ensure clients are well-informed and provide high-quality customer service, managing their experience throughout the legal process.

Requirements:

  • Licensure: Must have a Juris Doctorate (JD) degree and be admitted to the Massachusetts Bar or awaiting swearing-in (*other state Bar admissions may be considered).
  • Experience: Preferably 1+ years of experience as a licensed attorney, though recent graduates with relevant legal experience will be considered.
  • Knowledge: Strong knowledge of U.S. immigration laws, family law, probate law, and criminal law procedures.
  • Languages: Fluency in English is required; proficiency in Spanish and/or Portuguese is highly preferred.
  • Skills:
    • Impeccable attention to detail and excellent communication abilities (written and verbal).
    • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
    • High level of professionalism and the ability to maintain composure in high-pressure situations.
    • Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
    • Strong customer service orientation with an enthusiasm for legal practice.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the Massachusetts Bar (or eligibility) is required. Other state bar memberships will be considered.
