Insurance Coverage and Litigation Associate

Job Overview:
A law firm seeks a motivated and skilled attorney to join its team as an Insurance Coverage and Litigation Associate. This position requires approximately 3-5 years of experience in insurance coverage and related litigation. The ideal candidate will have strong writing abilities, exceptional critical thinking skills, and the drive to handle complex caseloads. The role involves advising domestic and international insurers on a variety of coverage issues, including energy and construction insurance, concert and event cancellation, and disability insurance for athletes and high-net-worth individuals.

Duties:

• Analyze insurance policies and draft detailed coverage opinions.
• Provide strategic advice and coverage recommendations to clients.
• Conduct in-depth legal research and analysis on complex coverage issues.
• Draft and review legal documents such as pleadings, memos, discovery requests, motions, briefs, and other correspondence.
• Communicate with opposing counsel and other parties, preparing formal written correspondence.
• Manage caseloads efficiently, ensuring timely completion of all tasks and filings.
• Stay up to date on developments in insurance law and coverage litigation.

Requirements:

• 3-5 years of experience in insurance coverage and litigation matters.
• Proven ability to handle complex insurance claims and legal issues.
• Strong writing, research, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple high-priority matters simultaneously.
• Proficient in identifying and resolving legal challenges quickly.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Strong attention to detail with a proactive approach to client needs.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
• Excellent academic credentials.

Certifications:

• Active membership in the California State Bar (required).
• Membership in the New York State Bar is preferred, but not required.

Skills:

• Strong legal research, writing, and verbal communication abilities.
• Ability to analyze and interpret complex legal documents.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize competing demands.
• Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is preferred but not required.
