Duties

• Provide legal counsel to city officials on topics such as ethics, ordinances, contracts, land use, taxes, and personnel issues.
• Monitor changes in state and federal legislation that may impact municipalities.
• Draft ordinances, contracts, and legal memoranda to protect the city’s interests.
• Review and approve city contracts and documents for legal soundness.
• Attend city council meetings and other scheduled city meetings, which may occur in the evening.
• Respond promptly to client inquiries through phone, email, or in-person consultations.
• Represent the firm at legislative or administrative hearings when needed.

Requirements

• Licensed and in good standing to practice law in Minnesota.
• Proven ability to collaborate effectively across practice areas.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
