Job Overview:
A law firm is seeking a Mid-Level IP Patent Prosecution Attorney to join its growing Intellectual Property Practice Group. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years of experience in patent prosecution, including conducting patent searches, analysis, drafting and filing applications, and providing portfolio management services. Experience in mechanical, biomedical, and medical devices is preferred. While litigation experience is beneficial, it is not required.

Location:

  • Hackensack, NJ

Duties:

  • Manage patent prosecution for a variety of industries and clients
  • Conduct patent searches and provide detailed analysis
  • Draft and file patent applications with the USPTO
  • Provide portfolio management and intellectual property counseling
  • Collaborate with clients to assess and protect their intellectual property
  • Optional opportunity for involvement in IP litigation

Requirements:

  • At least 3 years of experience in IP patent prosecution
  • Strong understanding of patent law and prosecution procedures
  • Experience with mechanical, biomedical, or medical devices (preferred)
  • Litigation experience (a plus, but not required)
  • Strong client communication and relationship management skills

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, biomedical science, or a related technical field (preferred)

Certifications:

  • Admission to the state bar
  • USPTO registration (required)
