Job Overview:
A reputable law firm is seeking a senior-level affordable housing associate or counsel with 6+ years of law firm experience to join a nationally recognized Affordable Housing team. The team works with for-profit and nonprofit developers, as well as investors and governmental entities, to develop, acquire, construct, finance, operate, and preserve affordable housing in various locations, primarily across Texas and other parts of the country.

Location:

  • Dallas, TX

Duties:

  • Lead all aspects of affordable housing development and finance transactions from structuring to execution.

  • Draft, review, and negotiate transaction documents, ensuring compliance with legal standards.

  • Oversee due diligence processes and manage project documentation.

  • Manage client relationships and advise on business and legal matters related to affordable housing.

  • Coordinate with clients, investors, and opposing parties in a highly collaborative environment.

  • Handle all aspects of affordable housing transactions, including finance, development, and incentives.

  • Work in a fast-paced environment, meeting deadlines and managing competing priorities.

  • Provide leadership and guidance in high-pressure situations, ensuring successful project delivery.

Requirements:

  • 6+ years of relevant law firm experience focused on affordable housing transactions.

  • Extensive knowledge of affordable housing finance, development, and incentives.

  • Experience with drafting, negotiating, and reviewing transaction documents.

  • Proven ability to manage all facets of affordable housing development or finance transactions.

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

  • Ability to thrive in a high-pressure and fast-paced work setting.

  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written, with clients and team members.

Education:

  • J.D. from a nationally recognized and accredited law school.

  • Strong academic record.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the State Bar in the relevant jurisdiction (TX, OH, or FL depending on location).

Skills:

  • Expertise in affordable housing finance, development, and incentives.

  • Strong legal drafting and negotiating skills.

  • Excellent project management and organizational abilities.

  • Ability to handle complex legal issues while maintaining effective communication with clients and opposing parties.
