A law firm is seeking a Special Counsel/Senior Associate in Work, Health, and Safety (WHS) for their Melbourne location.

 

Job Overview:

  • The candidate will collaborate closely with local and national partners to develop and expand the WHS practice.
  • They will take the lead on various WHS matters, including providing legal advice, responding to incidents, representing clients in litigation, and contributing to business development initiatives.
  • Exceptional written, drafting, and verbal communication skills, along with strong client liaison abilities and time management, are essential for this role.

 

Duties:

  • Provide legal advice on WHS compliance matters to clients.
  • Respond to WHS incidents and advise on regulatory powers.
  • Conduct gap analyses of WHS management systems.
  • Represent clients in WHS litigation cases.
  • Assist with presentations, publications, and business development initiatives.

 

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Bar in Australia in good standing.
  • 5+ years of experience in a reputable Employment or WHS practice.
  • Demonstrated expertise in WHS legal compliance matters.
  • Strong written, drafting, and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional client liaison abilities.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills, with the capacity to handle multiple projects and conflicting priorities.

 

Certifications:

Admission to the Bar in Australia.
