A law firm in Los Angeles is seeking a Lateral Tax Associate Attorney with a strong understanding of the technical aspects of tax law and experience in strategic and private equity M&A transactions, capital markets, investment fund formation, and/or real estate matters. The ideal candidate will possess outstanding writing, oral communication, and analytical skills, along with top academic credentials and the ability to think creatively about complex tax issues.

 

Duties:

  • Provide legal advice and support on various tax matters, including M&A transactions, capital markets activities, investment fund formation, and real estate transactions.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis on tax issues, including federal, state, and international tax laws.
  • Draft and review tax-related documents, agreements, and opinions.
  • Collaborate with clients, internal teams, and external advisors to develop tax-efficient strategies and structures.
  • Assist in tax planning and compliance for clients across various industries.
  • Stay updated on changes in tax laws and regulations to ensure compliance and provide proactive legal counsel.
  • Participate in client meetings, negotiations, and presentations as needed.

 

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the State Bar and eligibility to practice law in California.
  • 3-6 years of experience in tax law, preferably with a focus on strategic and private equity M&A transactions, capital markets, investment fund formation, and/or real estate matters.
  • Strong understanding of tax laws and regulations, with excellent research abilities.
  • Outstanding writing, oral communication, and analytical skills.
  • Top academic credentials and a demonstrated ability to think creatively about complex tax issues.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

 

Education:

Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

 

Certifications:

Admission to the State Bar and eligibility to practice law in California.
