Defense Litigation Associate Attorney - Asbestos

Job Title: Defense Litigation Associate Attorney – Asbestos (White Plains, NY)

Job Overview:
A well-established law firm is seeking a skilled Associate Attorney to join its Mass Torts and Industry-Wide Litigation team. The ideal candidate will focus on asbestos litigation and represent defendants in both state and federal courts. This position offers an opportunity to collaborate with colleagues across various offices and work on complex, high-stakes litigation.

Duties:

• Take and defend depositions regularly
• Conduct legal research and collaborate with senior attorneys to develop defense strategies
• Manage claims through resolution, including dismissals, settlements, motion practice, and trial
• Draft legal memoranda, pleadings, and motions
• Represent clients at courtroom appearances
• Achieve a minimum of 1900 billable hours annually

Requirements:

• 2+ years of deposition and courtroom experience in toxic tort matters required
• Asbestos defense experience preferred
• Admission to New York required
• Admission to Connecticut, Massachusetts, and/or New Jersey preferred (or ability to waive into NJ)
• Proficient in using Zoom, MS Teams, and other video conferencing platforms for remote depositions, court conferences, and meetings
• Ability to travel for in-person depositions and court conferences, including overnight travel as needed

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

• Admission to practice law in New York (required)
• Additional state admissions (preferred)
