Entry-level Immigration Attorney

A law firm seeks an Entry-Level Immigration Attorney for an exciting opportunity in Rancho Cucamonga, CA. Duties:

• Assist clients by explaining complex immigration concepts and offering strategic solutions.
• Represent detained and non-detained individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and the Board of Immigration Appeals.
• Manage a diverse caseload of immigration cases, ensuring deadlines and client needs are met.
• Conduct intake sessions with detained clients and provide legal guidance.
• Prepare various immigration applications, including family-based petitions, removal defense, and USCIS filings.
• Review and modify immigration application packets to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Work with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community organizations to stay updated on changes in immigration law.
• Meet with potential clients for consultations to discuss their legal options and develop case strategies.
• Prepare clients and witnesses for testimony in court or USCIS interviews.
• Draft legal briefs, motions, and other documents for submission to the court or immigration authorities.

Requirements:

• Demonstrated interest in immigration law through law school clinics, volunteer work, or internships.
• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
• Active bar admission (recent law graduates awaiting bar results may also be considered).
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases at once.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and strategize with colleagues.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred but not required.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, with a client-focused approach.
• Experience using case management software is a plus.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Active bar admission in California or other state (or pending admission for recent graduates).

Skills:

• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Proficiency in legal research and drafting immigration-related legal documents.
• Knowledge of immigration law, including family-based petitions, removal defense, and USCIS procedures.
• Ability to manage a caseload effectively, ensuring timely progression of cases.
