Job Overview

A prominent law firm is seeking an International Trade Associate Attorney to join its Washington, D.C. office. This role involves working with the firm’s International Trade practice group on matters such as trade remedies, export controls, customs, foreign investment, and trade policy. The ideal candidate will have 3-6 years of relevant experience and demonstrate strong academic achievements, initiative, and excellent interpersonal skills. This position may require extensive travel outside the U.S.

Duties

  • Advise clients on trade remedies, export controls, and customs regulations.
  • Assist with matters involving foreign investment in the U.S. and free trade agreements.
  • Provide legal guidance on international trade policy and compliance issues.
  • Conduct legal research and draft legal documents related to trade and customs law.
  • Represent clients in trade-related disputes and regulatory matters.
  • Collaborate with a team to develop strategies for complex international trade cases.

Requirements

  • 3-6 years of experience in international trade law, including areas such as trade remedies, export controls, and customs.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to assume responsibility for client interactions.
  • Demonstrated initiative and the ability to work independently on client matters.
  • Willingness to travel extensively outside the U.S. as required.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Admission to the bar (D.C. Bar preferred, or eligibility to waive in).

Skills

  • In-depth knowledge of international trade laws and policies.
  • Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
