A law firm in Dallas, TX, is seeking a Biotech-Life Science Patent Prosecution/Patent Agent or Scientist with excellent academic credentials, communication, and interpersonal skills. The ideal candidate should possess an advanced degree (Ph.D. preferred) in biology, biotechnology, biochemistry, cellular/molecular biology, molecular genetics, microbiology, or a comparable field. Previous experience in a law firm or industry and current admission to the USPTO are required.

 

Duties:

  • Draft and prosecute patent applications for life sciences, biotech, or pharmaceutical inventions.
  • Conduct thorough prior art searches and analyze patent and scientific literature.
  • Collaborate closely with inventors, attorneys, and clients to develop effective patent protection strategies.
  • Manage patent portfolios and provide support in patent litigation matters when necessary.
  • Stay updated on relevant laws, regulations, and industry developments.

 

Requirements:

  • Advanced degree (Ph.D. preferred) in biology, biotechnology, biochemistry, cellular/molecular biology, molecular genetics, microbiology, or a related field.
  • Previous experience in a law firm or industry setting.
  • Admission to the USPTO.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in drafting and prosecuting patent applications for life sciences, biotech, or pharmaceutical inventions.
  • Experience in biotech commercialization, such as university tech transfer, or industry commercialization/regulatory compliance is desirable.

 

Education:

Advanced degree (Ph.D. preferred) in biology, biotechnology, biochemistry, cellular/molecular biology, molecular genetics, microbiology, or a relevant discipline.

 

Certifications:

Admission to the USPTO.

  • Outstanding academic credentials.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in conducting detailed prior art searches and analyzing patent and scientific literature.
  • Strong collaborative abilities to work effectively with inventors, attorneys, and clients.
