Duties:

  • Conducting patentability and freedom-to-operate searches and analyses.
  • Drafting patent applications and responses to office actions.
  • Managing and prosecuting patent portfolios.
  • Providing strategic intellectual property counseling to clients.
  • Conducting intellectual property due diligence in corporate transactions.
  • Handling intellectual property litigation matters as necessary.
  • Assisting in licensing negotiations and agreements.
  • Keeping abreast of intellectual property law developments and best practices.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Minnesota state bar or admission eligibility via reciprocity.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience practicing intellectual property law, preferably focusing on patent prosecution and litigation.
  • Strong technical background in mechanical engineering; experience in electrical engineering and material science is highly desirable.
  • Proven track record in drafting patent applications and responding to office actions.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.

Certifications:

  • Registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

Skills:
