Duties:

  • Conduct legal research and guide on consumer financial regulatory issues, including payments, credit products, and unfair, deceptive, or abusive acts or practices (UDAAP) laws.
  • Draft and review legal documents such as agreements, regulatory filings, and compliance policies.
  • Assist clients in navigating regulatory requirements and compliance obligations.
  • Represent clients in regulatory investigations and enforcement actions.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience practicing law, focusing on regulatory matters, preferably in consumer financial services.
  • Active membership in good standing with a local Bar (California Bar preferred).
  • Strong understanding of consumer financial regulations, including experience with payments, credit products, and UDAAP laws.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex legal concepts.
  • Demonstrated commitment to client service and providing practical legal advice.
  • Experience with emerging platforms/FinTech, mortgage lenders/services, cryptocurrency, or digital assets is a plus.
  • Prior experience working in a law firm environment preferred.

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Bar in at least one U.S. jurisdiction, preferably California.
