A law firm in Boston is seeking a motivated Intellectual Property Associate Attorney with a background in patent drafting, prosecution, opinions, and strategic agreements. The ideal candidate will be USPTO admitted or eligible, with a strong science background in biology, biochemistry, chemistry, immunology, organic chemistry, or protein engineering. This role involves working closely with clients in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical sectors, requiring exceptional academic credentials and communication skills.

Job Duties:

  • Draft and prosecute patent applications across various technologies.
  • Provide legal opinions on patentability, validity, and infringement.
  • Conduct intellectual property due diligence in mergers, acquisitions, and licensing agreements.
  • Assist in the drafting and negotiation of IP-related agreements, including licensing and technology transfer agreements.
  • Manage client relationships and provide strategic IP counseling.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree (BS) or PhD in biology, biochemistry, chemistry, immunology, organic chemistry, or protein engineering.
  • JD from an accredited law school with outstanding academic credentials.
  • Admission to the USPTO or eligibility to sit for the exam.
  • 2-3 years of experience in intellectual property law, preferably with a focus on patent prosecution and opinions.
  • Background or experience in a biotechnology or pharmaceutical company is advantageous.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
