Job Overview:

A prominent law firm is seeking a highly qualified Mid-Level IP Litigation Associate to join its dynamic Intellectual Property Litigation team in Washington, DC. Location:

  • Washington, DC

Duties:

  • Handle complex patent and trade secrets litigation, including managing discovery, drafting motions, and preparing legal arguments.
  • Assist in the preparation and filing of inter partes review (IPR) petitions.
  • Work alongside senior attorneys to develop and execute litigation strategies.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis in support of litigation matters.
  • Draft and review legal documents, including pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and responses.
  • Manage communication with clients, providing regular updates on case status and strategy.
  • Participate in trial preparation and support, including assisting with expert witnesses and deposition preparation.
  • Represent clients in settlement negotiations and alternative dispute resolution proceedings.
  • Maintain a high level of professional expertise by staying current on developments in IP law.

Requirements:

  • 3–4 years of experience in IP litigation, with a specific focus on patent and trade secrets disputes.
  • A degree in an Engineering discipline, Physics or Computer Science is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with inter partes review (IPR) petitions is highly desirable.
  • Strong experience in managing complex litigation and handling all phases of a case.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft clear and persuasive legal arguments.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Client-focused with an ability to handle sensitive issues professionally and efficiently.

Education:

  • J.D. from an accredited law school.
  • Strong academic credentials.

Certifications:

  • Active bar membership in the state.
  • USPTO admission preferred but not required.

Skills:

  • Expertise in patent and trade secrets litigation.
  • Strong proficiency in handling IPR petitions and PTAB proceedings.
  • Legal research, writing, and analysis skills.
  • Ability to manage litigation projects from inception to resolution.
  • Understanding of high-tech industries such as software, digital media, and semiconductors.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for client interaction and teamwork.
