Consumer Financial Regulatory Associate - Mid-Level

A law firm seeks a qualified Consumer Financial Regulatory Associate to join its Financial Services Practice Group in San Francisco. This position is ideal for an attorney with at least four years of experience in regulatory matters related to consumer finance. The successful candidate will demonstrate expertise in both state and federal regulations, particularly those concerning payments and credit products.

Duties

• Provide legal counsel on compliance with consumer financial regulations, including laws on unfair, deceptive, or abusive acts or practices.
• Advise clients on issues related to payments, credit products, and emerging financial technologies.
• Draft and review legal documents about consumer financial products and services.
• Conduct comprehensive legal research to support regulatory compliance efforts.
• Collaborate with team members to develop strategies that enhance client service and compliance.
• Maintain clear and effective communication with clients to keep them informed about regulatory developments.

Requirements

• A minimum of four years of experience in consumer financial regulation or related legal areas.
• Strong understanding of state and federal consumer financial laws.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, with a focus on client service.
• Experience with FinTech, mortgage lending, cryptocurrency, or digital assets is a plus.
• Must be a member of a local bar association in good standing; prior law firm experience is not required.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Licensed to practice law in California and in good standing.
