A law firm in Washington, DC, is seeking a dedicated Immigration Attorney to join their expanding team. The ideal candidate will be an effective communicator, team player, and self-starter with strong business acumen. This role requires the ability to manage a high caseload, interact with clients and potential clients, and oversee a large team of paralegals. The candidate should be adept at handling multiple cases and deadlines, with excellent organizational and project management skills.

Duties

  • Meet with potential new clients to provide consultations and evaluate their legal needs.
  • Develop and coordinate case and legal strategies for effective case management.
  • Manage a diverse caseload, including overseeing paralegals, projects, and meeting deadlines.
  • Train, supervise, and mentor paralegals and support staff.
  • Prepare, revise, and file court documents, including motions, briefs, and memoranda.
  • Conduct thorough legal research to support case preparation and strategy.
  • Stay informed about legislative changes and relevant judicial case law.
  • Promote and market the law firm’s services to attract new clients.
  • Work one Saturday a month, with the potential for bonuses for new clients signed on those days.
  • Cross-sell other legal practices within the firm to clients as appropriate.
  • Represent clients in court hearings and trials.
  • Develop expertise in various immigration matters including Family Petitions, Asylum, Individual Hearings, Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS), U-Visas, and Waivers.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA Accredited Law School (required).
  • Active Bar License in Good Standing from any US State or Puerto Rico (required).
  • Fluency in Spanish (required).
  • Minimum of 1+ years of experience in immigration law.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA Accredited Law School.

Certifications

  • Active Bar License in Good Standing from any US State or Puerto Rico.

  • Ability to handle a high volume of cases and manage tight deadlines.
  • Proven leadership and team management skills.
  • Proficient in legal research, drafting, and case preparation.
