Job Overview
A law firm seeks a mid-level Family Law Attorney with 4-6 years of experience to join a collaborative and supportive team. The successful candidate will have autonomy in managing their cases, receive work through the firm’s lead generation, and will be expected to contribute to business development efforts. Duties

  • Represent clients in family law matters, including mediation and trial litigation.
  • Conduct thorough legal research and analyze complex legal issues.
  • Draft legal documents such as memoranda, briefs, letters, and agreements.
  • Engage in discovery processes, including reviewing electronically stored data and hard copy documents.
  • Manage caseload effectively, meeting production and billing objectives.
  • Attend and close client consultations, both during and outside core working hours as needed.
  • Collaborate with support staff and ensure efficient use of resources.
  • Participate in business development activities, including attending events, marketing services, and expanding the firm’s brand.
  • Actively seek client feedback and reviews to enhance personal and firm reputation.
  • Meet monthly billing and collection targets, ensuring timely approval of invoices.
  • Engage in pro bono or volunteer activities, with up to 16 hours of paid volunteer time annually.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Licensed to practice law in the state (or eligible for reciprocal admission).
  • 4-6 years of legal experience, particularly in family law.
  • Strong legal writing, research, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage a diverse caseload.
  • Ability to meet billing requirements of 1500 hours annually, with collections on 1400 billable hours.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an American Bar Association-accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active bar membership in the state where the attorney will practice (required).

Skills

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for client interaction and courtroom representation.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to handle multiple cases simultaneously.
  • Proficient in legal research and drafting of complex legal documents.
