A law firm in Chicago is seeking a highly organized and motivated Attorney to manage a high-volume caseload with expertise in asbestos litigation. The ideal candidate will develop defense strategies, handle case files from inception to resolution, and engage in extensive client and insurer communication. The role requires excellent research, writing, and communication skills, with a strong emphasis on attention to detail and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Case Management: Handle a high-volume caseload by preparing files for defense from inception to resolution.
  • Develop Defense Strategies: Create and implement effective defense strategies tailored to each case.
  • Client and Insurer Communication: Maintain extensive communication and reporting with clients and insurers throughout the case lifecycle.
  • Conduct Depositions: Conduct depositions and gather crucial information to support case development.
  • Court Appearances: Represent clients in court and manage trial preparation activities.
  • Feedback Receptivity: Receive and integrate feedback effectively while meeting goals in a timely manner.
  • Independent and Team Work: Work independently and collaborate within a team-oriented environment to achieve objectives.

Requirements

  • Bar Admission: Must be admitted to the Illinois State Bar; admission to New York, New Jersey, Florida, and/or Pennsylvania State Bars is a plus.
  • Experience: Significant experience in asbestos litigation is required.
  • Education: Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school with excellent academic credentials.
  • Skills:
    • Superior research and analytical abilities.
    • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.
    • High attention to detail and organizational skills.
    • Strong time-management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
