Job Overview:
A Los Angeles-based law firm is seeking a driven and knowledgeable mid-level associate with a background in employment law to join its labor, employment, and workplace safety practice. This position involves a blend of complex litigation and advisory work across employment, workplace policies, and labor relations. Ideal candidates will bring hands-on experience in employment disputes and wage & hour actions, along with the capacity to handle nuanced client counseling and transactional labor matters.

Duties:

  • Represent clients in wage & hour class actions and PAGA claims

  • Handle single-plaintiff disputes involving harassment, retaliation, or discrimination

  • Draft, revise, and interpret employment documents including policies, agreements, and separation terms

  • Advise on employment-related implications of corporate deals such as mergers or acquisitions

  • Collaborate with senior attorneys on labor relations matters and workplace compliance issues

  • Provide support in litigation strategy, discovery, and court proceedings

  • Maintain client-facing responsibilities with increasing autonomy

  • Stay current with federal and California employment regulations

Requirements:

  • 4-7 years of relevant legal practice in employment litigation and advisory services

  • Demonstrated experience with class/PAGA actions and workplace claims

  • Prior exposure to traditional labor law is advantageous but not mandatory

  • Excellent legal writing, research, and oral communication skills

  • Ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong interpersonal skills and team-oriented mindset

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited U.S. law school

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the California Bar (candidates outside Los Angeles must be CA-barred)

Skills:

  • Proficiency in employment law, litigation processes, and labor-related transactions

  • Strategic thinking and issue-spotting in workplace compliance matters

  • Strong organizational and project management abilities

  • Comfort interacting directly with clients and external parties
