A law firm seeks a motivated Junior Tax Associate to join its Corporate & Finance tax team in Washington, DC. This role involves advising on domestic and international corporate and partnership tax matters associated with mergers and acquisitions, investment funds, private equity transactions, and capital markets. The position offers mentorship from senior associates, counsel, and partners within a supportive and collaborative environment.

Duties

  • Provide legal counsel on corporate and partnership tax issues for M&A, joint ventures, fund formations, and other transactions.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate agreements related to mergers, acquisitions, dispositions, and capital markets transactions.
  • Conduct in-depth legal research and analysis to ensure compliance with tax regulations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop innovative tax solutions for clients.
  • Engage in client communication to provide updates and strategic guidance.

Requirements

  • Minimum of one year of experience in transactional tax law, preferably in a large law firm setting.
  • Expertise in reviewing and negotiating tax-related provisions in transactional documents.
  • Strong research, writing, and analytical capabilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Membership in the Bar in the United States is required.
