A law firm in Houston is seeking a Project Development Associate Attorney with expertise in project development within renewable energy, oil & gas sectors, or extensive construction experience, focusing on large-scale infrastructure projects. This role offers the opportunity to work on high-profile projects in renewable energy, energy storage, and power generation technologies, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders across various specialty areas.

Job Details

  • Lead the development of renewable and conventional energy projects, including wind, solar, LNG, and nuclear.
  • Oversee engineering, procurement, and construction agreements, equipment procurement agreements, and other development contracts.
  • Negotiate and draft engineering, procurement, and construction agreements, operations and maintenance agreements, and other development agreements.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and changes in project development and finance law.
  • Collaborate with clients and colleagues in tax, regulatory, and real estate specialties.
  • Bring representative experience in the renewable energy market, handling project development (offtake, procurement, and construction) and/or project finance transactions.
  • Utilize law firm project finance experience, preferably from a sophisticated national law firm environment.

Duties

  • Negotiate and draft various agreements related to engineering, procurement, and construction.
  • Lead project development efforts for renewable and conventional energy projects.
  • Stay current with industry trends and regulatory changes impacting project development.
  • Collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure project success.

Requirements

  • 3-6 years of experience in construction, procurement, and project development.
  • Demonstrated experience negotiating and drafting engineering, procurement, and construction agreements.
  • Familiarity with project finance principles and transactions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Bar in Texas or eligibility to become licensed in Texas.
