Associate Attorney – Consular Processing

Job Overview:
A law firm based in Los Angeles, CA is actively seeking a qualified Associate Attorney with focused experience in immigration law, particularly consular processing and waivers. This position offers a valuable opportunity to join a collaborative legal team and play a key role in representing individuals navigating complex immigration pathways. Duties:

  • Oversee and advance a docket of consular processing and waiver matters, including I-130, I-601A, I-601, I-212, and K-Visas

  • Guide clients through interview preparation and consulate processes

  • Attend and represent clients at USCIS appointments and interviews

  • Conduct final reviews of completed immigration filings and supporting documents

  • Lead and supervise a team of paralegals to ensure timely completion of filings and achievement of service benchmarks

  • Analyze individual case circumstances to identify potential legal strategies and eligibility for benefits

  • Draft and submit persuasive legal briefs and supplementary materials for various immigration petitions

Requirements:

  • 1-4 years of recent, hands-on experience practicing immigration law

  • Proficiency in managing a large and diverse caseload independently

  • Strong interpersonal skills with a collaborative and solution-oriented mindset

  • Prior work on consular processing matters and hardship waivers

  • Bilingual language skills in English and Spanish strongly preferred

  • Familiarity with case tracking or legal workflow software is advantageous

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school

  • Admission to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction

Certifications:

  • Active license in good standing with any U.S. State Bar

Skills:

  • Strong command of U.S. immigration statutes, procedures, and case strategies

  • Excellent written advocacy and legal drafting abilities

  • Organizational aptitude with the capacity to prioritize shifting workloads

  • Ability to mentor and manage support staff effectively

  • Competency in preparing clients for high-stakes interviews and hearings
