Job Overview
A well-established law firm based in Santa Monica, CA, is looking for a highly skilled and motivated Associate Attorney to join their intellectual property team. This role offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge technology-related cases, including trademark, copyright, trade secret, and AI litigation. The firm’s practice provides innovative solutions to complex legal disputes, working alongside multidisciplinary teams to navigate the evolving world of technology law.

Duties

  • Lead and manage technology litigation and enforcement cases, with a focus on intellectual property matters such as trademark, copyright, and trade secrets.
  • Develop strategic approaches for complex litigation and enforcement actions.
  • Advise clients on legal risks associated with product development, and provide proactive counsel to avoid future disputes.
  • Conduct detailed legal research and analysis, offering strong written and oral communication.
  • Oversee the discovery phase of litigation, managing e-discovery alongside clients and external vendors.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide comprehensive legal solutions and client support.
  • Engage with clients and act as a trusted advisor in all aspects of IP litigation, offering insights on the latest developments in technology law.
  • Demonstrate excellent client-facing skills and be able to work effectively within a team environment.

Requirements

  • 2-4 years of experience in intellectual property law, specifically in trademark, copyright, trade secret, or false advertising matters.
  • Strong knowledge of the Lanham Act, the Copyright Act, DMCA, state and federal trade-secret statutes, and the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act (CFAA).
  • Experience in technology litigation, especially in cases involving artificial intelligence, data collection, and model training.
  • A high level of motivation, superior academic credentials, and excellent communication and writing skills.
  • Must be a member in good standing with the State Bar of California or be eligible for admission to the bar in the relevant jurisdiction.

Education

  • J.D. from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active membership in the State Bar of California.
