A law firm seeks an experienced Senior Immigration Attorney to join their immigration team in Sacramento, California. This is a prime opportunity for a skilled attorney with at least three years of immigration law experience to further their career within a growing, dynamic legal environment. The ideal candidate will be comfortable managing a varied caseload, representing clients in immigration court, and handling complex immigration matters, all while contributing to the firm’s continued success. You will collaborate with a dedicated team and gain exposure to a wide range of immigration cases, including family-based petitions, removal defense, and more.

Duties:

  • Provide expert legal advice and solutions in complex immigration cases.
  • Represent clients in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA), including both detained and non-detained individuals.
  • Manage a full caseload of immigration cases from start to finish.
  • Conduct client intakes and provide legal counsel to detained individuals at detention centers.
  • Prepare and file a variety of immigration applications, including removal defense and family-based immigration petitions.
  • Review and revise immigration application packets to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Engage with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community organizations on evolving immigration laws and policies.
  • Conduct strategic consultations with potential clients to assess their immigration needs and develop effective case strategies.
  • Guide and prepare clients and witnesses for court hearings and USCIS interviews.
  • Draft legal briefs and other necessary filings for various immigration cases.
  • Provide legal analysis to clients, identifying strengths and potential benefits in their cases.

Requirements:

  • At least 3 years of experience in immigration law, with a strong focus on removal defense, family-based petitions, and other USCIS applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a caseload and move legal matters forward efficiently.
  • A collaborative approach, with a team-oriented mindset and willingness to work closely with colleagues.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred, but not required.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with clients and colleagues.
  • Experience with case management software is preferred.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in good standing with the California State Bar.

Skills:

  • Expertise in immigration law, including removal defense, family-based petitions, and humanitarian relief.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and drafting skills, particularly for legal briefs and motions.
  • Ability to handle complex cases and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • High level of client service and the ability to develop strategies tailored to each client's needs.
  • Proficiency with case management software and other legal tools.
