Job Overview:
A law firm seeks a diligent and motivated attorney with experience in representing architects, and engineers and handling complex construction claims to join its team in Purchase, NY. Duties:

  • Independently manage a caseload with partner supervision.
  • Draft motions, pleadings, discovery responses, and other legal documents.
  • Conduct legal research and prepare detailed memoranda.
  • Attend hearings, and court conferences, and represent clients in various legal proceedings.
  • Conduct and defend depositions of witnesses and experts.
  • Attend site inspections and collaborate with expert witnesses for case development.
  • Participate in mediation and settlement negotiations.
  • Prepare cases for trial and assist in trial proceedings.

Requirements:

  • Admitted attorney with 1-5 years of experience in representing architects and engineers or handling construction-related claims.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with trial preparation and court appearances preferred.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • Active New York State Bar License required.

Certifications:

  • New York State Bar License (required).
  • Admission to the Connecticut Bar is a plus but not mandatory.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in drafting legal documents and conducting legal research.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and case management abilities.
  • Experience with defending complex construction claims and working with expert witnesses.
  • Familiarity with legal research tools such as Westlaw or LexisNexis.
