Job Overview: We are recruiting on behalf of a prestigious AmLaw 200 firm, seeking an experienced associate attorney with 3-5 years of cybersecurity and data privacy experience to join its Data Privacy and Cybersecurity team within the Business Litigation Practice Group. This hybrid position offers flexibility while working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will counsel clients on data breach response, privacy and security regulations, and related litigation, as well as provide guidance on the latest developments in artificial intelligence.

Duties:

  • Advise clients on incident and data breach response, mitigation, remediation, and coordination.
  • Manage forensic investigations and mitigation strategies in response to cyber attacks.
  • Counsel clients on federal and state data privacy and security laws and regulations.
  • Handle enforcement actions and investigations by U.S. Office for Civil Rights and state Attorneys General (AGs).
  • Assist with data privacy litigation, including drafting briefs, managing discovery, and attending depositions and court appearances.
  • Provide guidance on technology contracts and compliance with state data privacy laws.
  • Participate in the firm’s AI team, advising clients on artificial intelligence issues.
  • Collaborate with a team of attorneys and work independently to provide legal solutions.

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of experience in cybersecurity and data privacy law.
  • Proven experience in handling data breaches, privacy compliance, and related litigation.
  • Strong understanding of federal and state privacy regulations, such as GDPR, CCPA, and HIPAA.
  • Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the Bar in one or more East Coast jurisdictions (e.g., Connecticut, New York, etc.).

Skills:

  • Strong forensic data breach experience and background in cybersecurity.
  • Proficiency in drafting legal briefs, motions, and managing discovery.
  • Excellent communication and counseling skills for advising clients.
  • Familiarity with technology contracts and compliance with privacy laws.
  • Ability to stay updated on emerging trends in cybersecurity and data privacy, including artificial intelligence.
