Job Overview:
A prestigious law firm is seeking a junior to mid-level Energy Associate Attorney (1-5 years of experience) to join its San Francisco office. This position offers the opportunity to work on regulatory, transactional, and project development matters, with a focus on the renewable energy sector. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with energy-related legal work and a strong interest in the growing energy sector.

Location:

Duties:

  • Represent clients in regulatory matters before the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC), the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), and other regulatory agencies.
  • Assist with due diligence for complex transactions on behalf of buyers, sellers, or financing parties (debt or equity).
  • Draft and negotiate power and energy purchase and sale agreements and other project-related contracts.
  • Provide legal support for energy-related projects, primarily in the renewable energy sector.
  • Take on substantive responsibility, including direct client contact and significant involvement in project development.

Requirements:

  • 1-5 years of experience in energy law or a related practice area (regulatory, transactional, or project development).
  • Admission to the California Bar and in good standing.
  • Demonstrated interest in the renewable energy sector.

Education:

  • JD from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the California Bar required.

Skills:

  • Strong analytical and legal research skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience with energy regulations and transactions, particularly in the renewable energy space.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
