Job Overview:
A law firm in El Paso, Texas, is seeking a highly experienced and passionate Lead T-Visa Attorney. This role focuses on providing legal representation for survivors of human trafficking seeking T-Visas and other immigration relief. The ideal candidate will have significant experience with T-Visa applications and the complexities of immigration relief for trafficking victims. The Lead T-Visa Attorney will manage a caseload, mentor junior attorneys, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to advocate for trafficking survivors.

Location:

  • El Paso, Texas

Duties:

  • Manage a high-volume caseload of T-Visa applications, including preparation, filing, follow-up, and appeals of petitions and related immigration relief applications.
  • Provide expert legal advice and counsel to survivors of human trafficking, ensuring their rights are upheld throughout the immigration process.
  • Lead and supervise a team of immigration attorneys and support staff, offering mentorship, guidance, and professional development.
  • Represent clients in administrative hearings, USCIS interviews, and appeals before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals.
  • Stay informed on changes in immigration laws, policies, and procedures related to T-Visas and trafficking victims.
  • Engage in community outreach, public education, and policy advocacy efforts related to human trafficking and immigration relief options.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and case records in compliance with firm and regulatory standards.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in immigration law, with a focus on T-Visa applications, U-Visas, and other forms of relief for victims of crime or persecution.
  • Proven experience in managing complex immigration cases, particularly related to human trafficking.
  • Strong understanding of federal and state laws related to human trafficking, immigration relief, and the criminal justice system.
  • Leadership experience, including managing and mentoring a team of attorneys and support staff.
  • Experience working with survivors of trauma and a commitment to trauma-informed legal practices.
  • Compassionate, client-centered approach to legal practice.
  • Fluency in Spanish required.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Active bar membership in any state or jurisdiction.

Certifications:

  • Active Bar License in any state (Required).

  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities, particularly for complex legal issues.
