Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Associate Attorney to join its team in Cleveland, Ohio. The ideal candidate will independently manage a caseload with oversight from senior attorneys, handling various aspects of civil litigation and creditors’ rights. This role involves significant legal research, drafting, and courtroom advocacy, requiring strong analytical and communication skills.

Duties

  • Draft and review complaints, service of summons, deeds, contracts, judgments, and real estate instruments.

  • Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda, motions, and appellate briefs.

  • Represent clients in state trial and appellate courts, administrative hearings, municipal courts, and federal courts.

  • Provide strategic legal counsel regarding case developments, regulatory updates, and compliance matters.

  • Maintain the highest ethical standards and professionalism in all legal and client interactions.

  • Foster a culture of collegiality and collaboration within the firm.

  • Ensure compliance with the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) and other relevant consumer protection laws.

  • Conduct discovery procedures and prepare cases for trial.

  • Participate in strategy development and case presentations.

  • Oversee and review work of support staff as needed.

  • Complete required training and continuing legal education.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years of relevant legal experience in litigation and/or creditors’ rights.

  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.

  • Excellent organizational and case management abilities.

  • Ability to build strong relationships with clients, colleagues, and court personnel.

  • Experience handling compliance matters related to consumer protection statutes is a plus.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Must hold an active license to practice law in Ohio.

  • Must adhere to professional conduct and ethical standards set by the state bar.
