A law firm seeks an experienced Immigration Attorney specializing in EOIR (Executive Office for Immigration Review) to join their team in Los Angeles. This role offers an exciting opportunity for a dedicated professional with 1-5 years of immigration law experience to manage cases and represent clients in various immigration proceedings. The ideal candidate will have a passion for defending clients' rights and working in a collaborative team environment.

Duties

  • Represent non-detained and detained individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA).
  • Manage a caseload, ensuring efficient progress of cases and compliance with deadlines.
  • Visit detention centers and conduct intake interviews with detained clients.
  • Prepare and file immigration applications, including removal defense and family-based petitions.
  • Review immigration applications for completeness and accuracy, making necessary adjustments.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community-based organizations to stay updated on immigration law changes.
  • Conduct consultations with potential clients, assessing their needs and developing strategic plans.
  • Guide and prepare clients and witnesses for testimony at court or before USCIS.
  • Provide in-depth legal analysis to identify potential case benefits for clients.
  • Draft and submit legal briefs for various immigration cases.

Requirements

  • Experience:
    • 1-5 years of experience practicing immigration law, with a focus on EOIR proceedings.
    • Strong background in handling family-based petitions, removal defense, detained cases, citizenship, and other USCIS applications.
    • Proven ability to manage a caseload efficiently and advocate for clients in complex immigration cases.
  • Skills:
    • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with clients and colleagues.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills, particularly in legal writing and presenting cases.
    • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to manage case files and deadlines.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
    • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred but not required.
    • Experience with case management software is a plus.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Admitted to practice law in California.

  • Strong knowledge of EOIR processes, immigration law, and related legal procedures.
  • Legal research and writing proficiency, with the ability to prepare comprehensive legal briefs.
