Job Overview
A prestigious global law firm is looking for a Senior Projects Lawyer with over 7 years of experience in construction, procurement, and project development. This individual will be instrumental in advising on large-scale infrastructure projects, particularly within the renewable energy, energy transition, and oil & gas sectors. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing complex transactions and risk allocation, as well as experience drafting and negotiating key project documents. The role provides the opportunity to work on cutting-edge energy projects alongside leading industry developers and investors.

Duties

  • Draft and negotiate construction, procurement, and development agreements, including EPC agreements, O&M agreements, equipment supply contracts, and PPAs.
  • Advise on risk management, insurance structures, and financing arrangements in energy and infrastructure projects.
  • Oversee and contribute to the development of renewable energy, energy storage, hydrogen, and carbon capture projects.
  • Collaborate with developers, energy companies, and investors to drive forward high-profile infrastructure projects.
  • Provide strategic legal counsel on large-scale projects, focusing on commercial and business considerations in addition to legal aspects.

Requirements

  • At least 7 years of experience in project development, construction, and procurement law.
  • In-house experience at an energy company, developer, or infrastructure firm is highly preferred.
  • Comprehensive understanding of risk allocation, insurance, and financing structures in large-scale energy and infrastructure projects.
  • Demonstrated expertise in renewable energy, energy transition technologies, and other cutting-edge energy projects.
  • Strong negotiation, drafting, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Commercially focused with the ability to offer strategic advice and solutions.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active Bar membership in relevant state(s).

Skills

  • Expertise in drafting and negotiating complex project development agreements.
  • Knowledge of renewable energy, infrastructure, and energy transition technologies.
  • Strong commercial mindset, with the ability to provide strategic business and legal guidance.
  • Ability to manage risk allocation, financing structures, and complex legal negotiations.
  • Excellent communication, drafting, and negotiation skills.
