Litigation Associate Attorney

A law firm in Chicago is seeking a Litigation Associate Attorney to join their team. The ideal candidate will have 2-3 years of experience in complex commercial litigation, including work in Illinois state and federal courts. The role requires a self-motivated, personable team player with exceptional academic and professional credentials, and admission to practice in Illinois.

Duties:

• Represent clients in complex commercial litigation matters before Illinois state and federal courts.
• Prepare and draft legal documents including pleadings, motions, and discovery requests.
• Conduct legal research and analyze case law to support litigation strategies.
• Manage and coordinate discovery processes, including document review and depositions.
• Develop and implement case strategies in collaboration with senior attorneys and clients.
• Prepare for and attend court hearings, trials, and arbitrations.
• Communicate with clients to provide updates, discuss case progress, and strategize.
• Assist in negotiating settlements and alternative dispute resolution processes.
• Maintain accurate and detailed case files and ensure compliance with all procedural requirements.
• Participate in team meetings and contribute to the overall success of the litigation department.

Requirements:

• 2-3 years of experience in complex commercial litigation.
• Completion of a clerkship is required.
• Strong academic and professional credentials.
• Must be self-motivated with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Admission to practice law in Illinois is required.
• Prior experience in Illinois state and federal courts is preferred.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Admission to the Illinois State Bar.
