A law firm is seeking a Patent Agent to join their team in Charlotte, NC. This individual will collaborate with attorneys and clients across various industries, focusing on the medical device industry. Responsibilities include:

  • Utilizing patent prosecution experience to build and manage U.S. and international patent portfolios.
  • Working closely with team attorneys to identify solutions and opportunities for clients with diverse needs.
  • Drafting and prosecuting patent applications.
  • Conducting due diligence investigations and performing freedom-to-operate and landscape analyses.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience practicing patent preparation and prosecution.
  • Undergraduate degree in engineering.
  • Strong academic credentials.
  • Excellent writing and analytical skills.
  • Registration to practice before the USPTO.
  • Technical knowledge in mechanical, electrical, biomedical, or related fields preferred.
  • Engineering and/or computer science degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in patent drafting and prosecution.

Education and Certifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in engineering.
  • Registration to practice before the USPTO.

Skills:

  • Strong technical knowledge in mechanical, electrical, biomedical, or related fields.
