A law firm in Bakersfield, CA, is seeking a highly experienced Senior Immigration Attorney to join its team. Reporting to the Managing Immigration Attorney, the candidate will manage a caseload, engage with clients, and collaborate with the Immigration Team of Attorneys and legal assistants. This role requires in-depth knowledge of immigration law, strong analytical skills, and the ability to provide strategic solutions to complex immigration matters.

 

Duties:

  • Explain immigration concepts and provide strategic solutions to clients.
  • Represent non-detained and detained individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals.
  • Manage a diverse workload of immigration cases.
  • Conduct intakes with detained individuals at centers.
  • Prepare various immigration applications, including removal defense and family-based immigration petitions.
  • Review and adjust immigration applications/packets as needed.
  • Present to and collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community-based organizations on changes in immigration law.
  • Conduct strategic immigration consultations with potential clients and determine necessary strategies.
  • Develop strategies and prepare clients/witnesses for court/USCIS testimony.
  • Provide legal analysis to determine potential case benefits.
  • Prepare and submit legal briefs for a variety of immigration cases.

 

Requirements:

  • 5-8 years of Immigration Law Experience.
  • Proficiency in Spanish preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to manage a caseload and move legal cases forward.
  • Experience with Family-Based Petitions, Humanitarian, EOIR, Detained, Citizenship, and other USCIS applications.
  • Familiarity with Case Management Software is preferred.

 

Education:

Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school.

 

Certifications:

Active Bar admission.
