Job Overview:
A law firm is seeking a qualified Associate Attorney with expertise in single plaintiff employment litigation. The ideal candidate will have 3-7 years of experience handling harassment, discrimination, retaliation, and wrongful termination claims in both state and federal courts. This role includes the opportunity to represent clients in various legal proceedings, provide strategic counsel, and manage complex cases from start to finish, with a focus on high-quality legal service and client advocacy.

Location:

Duties:

  • Defend single plaintiff harassment, discrimination, retaliation, and wrongful termination claims in state and federal court.
  • Represent clients in complaints and charges before the CRD, EEOC, and California Labor Commissioner.
  • Provide general employment-related advice and counsel to clients.
  • Prepare and respond to discovery requests in a timely manner.
  • Conduct and defend depositions.
  • Manage law and motion work, including dispositive motions, motions to compel arbitration, and discovery-related motions.
  • Prepare case evaluations for clients and offer strategic guidance.
  • Proactively handle and manage cases from initiation through resolution.
  • Prepare for and attend mediations, including drafting mediation briefs.
  • Attend court hearings, status conferences, and argue dispositive motions.
  • Gain experience in arbitration and trial proceedings.

Requirements:

  • 3-7 years of experience in single plaintiff employment litigation.
  • Proven experience defending harassment, discrimination, retaliation, and wrongful termination claims.
  • Experience defending complaints and charges before the CRD, EEOC, and California Labor Commissioner.
  • Strong background in preparing and responding to discovery requests.
  • Experience conducting and defending depositions.
  • Ability to manage law and motion work, including dispositive motions and motions to compel arbitration.
  • Arbitration and trial experience preferred.
  • Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to independently manage cases and meet deadlines.

Education:

  • Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admitted to practice law in the State of California.

Skills:

  • Exceptional legal research and writing abilities.
  • Strong oral communication skills and the ability to argue motions effectively.
  • Proficiency in legal software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to independently manage a caseload and meet deadlines.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
