Job Overview:

A law firm in New York City, NY, is seeking a highly skilled Corporate/Employment Counsel with 4 years of employment law experience at a nationally recognized law firm. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience advising on compliance and drafting various employment agreements. This role requires strong academic credentials, excellent writing abilities, superior organizational skills, and a client-focused work ethic. The candidate must be a member in good standing of (or eligible to waive into) the NY Bar.

Duties:

  • Provide expert legal advice on employment-related compliance matters, including worker classification, wage and hour laws, immigration issues, unions and collective bargaining, employment policies and handbooks, and equal opportunity laws.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate employment agreements, including those related to compensation, benefits, and other terms of employment.
  • Draft and negotiate separation agreements and provide counsel on reductions-in-force, WARN Act issues, and related matters.
  • Develop and advise on restrictive covenants, such as non-compete and non-solicitation clauses.
  • Conduct thorough due diligence and manage employment-related representations and warranties in transaction documents.
  • Assist in creating and updating employment policies and procedures to ensure federal, state, and local compliance.
  • Support the firm’s clients in employment litigation matters, including preparation of legal documents and representation in administrative proceedings.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to address complex employment law issues and ensure alignment with client objectives and legal requirements.

Requirements:

  • 4 years of experience in employment law at a nationally recognized law firm.
  • Demonstrated expertise in advising on employment-related compliance, drafting employment and separation agreements, and handling employment-related diligence.
  • Excellent academic credentials from a reputable law school.
  • Strong writing skills with the ability to produce precise, concise, and practical legal documents.
  • Superior organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong client-focused work ethic with a proven track record of building and maintaining client relationships.
  • Membership in good standing of (or eligibility to waive into) the NY Bar.

Education:

  • J.D. from an accredited law school.
  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant field preferred.

Certifications:

  • Membership in the NY Bar or eligibility to waive into the NY Bar.

Skills:

  • Advanced knowledge of employment law and compliance issues.
  • Exceptional legal research and analytical skills.
  • Proficient in drafting and negotiating employment-related agreements.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
