A law firm seeks an experienced and highly motivated Immigration Attorney to handle USCIS-related cases in a remote capacity. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of experience in immigration law, with a focus on a variety of USCIS applications. Duties

  • Develop strategies and guide clients and witnesses in preparation for court and USCIS testimony.
  • Represent clients in removal proceedings before Immigration Courts and the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA), handling both detained and non-detained individuals.
  • Manage and organize a caseload of immigration cases, ensuring that all deadlines and requirements are met.
  • Conduct intake meetings with detained clients and gather necessary case details.
  • Prepare a wide range of immigration applications, including removal defense, family-based petitions, and other USCIS filings.
  • Review and revise immigration applications and supporting documents to ensure accuracy and compliance with legal standards.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecution offices, and community organizations to stay current with immigration law changes.
  • Provide strategic consultations to potential clients, guiding them on the best course of action for their immigration needs.
  • Analyze clients’ cases to assess possible benefits and outcomes, advising them on available options.
  • Draft and submit legal briefs and motions for a variety of immigration cases.

Requirements

  • Experience:
    • 3-5 years of experience practicing immigration law, including handling USCIS applications, family-based petitions, humanitarian relief cases, and other immigration matters.
    • Demonstrated ability to manage a caseload and advance legal matters effectively.
    • Experience with case management software is highly preferred.
  • Skills:
    • Strong interpersonal communication and client-facing skills.
    • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, clients, and other legal professionals.
    • Proven track record of moving legal cases forward efficiently and managing multiple priorities.
    • High attention to detail and the ability to craft precise legal arguments.
    • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus, but not required.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active bar membership in the state of practice.
