Litigation Associate

A law firm seeks an ambitious and self-motivated Litigation Associate to join their team in Ventura, CA. This full-time role offers the opportunity to work on a wide range of insurance defense matters. The ideal candidate will have 0-7 years of experience, with the chance to take on significant responsibilities, including court appearances, depositions, and case management from inception to trial. Duties

• Manage litigation cases from start to finish, including discovery, motions, depositions, and court appearances
• Conduct legal research and draft legal documents such as motions, discovery requests, and reports
• Represent clients in hearings, depositions, and other legal proceedings
• Collaborate with senior attorneys and mentors for case strategy and development
• Maintain strong communication with clients to provide updates and guidance
• Engage in case management, including maintaining case files and managing deadlines
• Participate in a hybrid-remote work environment, with the ability to work remotely when needed
• Contribute to firm-wide training and knowledge-sharing initiatives

Requirements

• 0-7 years of experience in litigation, ideally in civil litigation or insurance defense law
• Strong academic background with excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills
• Proven ability to handle legal writing, including discovery and motion preparation
• Experience or interest in court appearances and deposition work
• A self-starter with the ability to work independently and manage multiple cases
• Strong verbal communication and advocacy skills
• Desire to work in a collaborative, team-oriented environment
• Ventura County ties or a willingness to relocate to Ventura, CA

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

• Active bar license
