Job Overview:

A law firm seeks a skilled Associate Attorney with a strong background in employment law to join its growing team. With a focus on advocating for employees and civil rights plaintiffs, the firm has established itself as a premier legal service provider. The successful candidate will have at least 3 years of plaintiff-side experience and will either work remotely or in a hybrid capacity, depending on location. This is a unique opportunity for a driven attorney to contribute to meaningful cases, represent employees, and thrive in a flexible work environment.

Duties:

  • Develop and execute strategic plans for single-plaintiff employment cases.
  • Manage all aspects of the discovery process, including drafting and responding to document requests, taking and defending depositions, and coordinating expert witnesses.
  • Draft a variety of legal documents, such as motions, mediation briefs, trial briefs, and court filings.
  • Represent clients independently at mediation and in settlement negotiations.
  • Argue motions and conduct witness examinations during hearings and trials.
  • Engage directly with clients and opposing counsel throughout case proceedings.
  • Collaborate with firm staff, including paralegals, to ensure smooth case management.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the California State Bar (required).
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in plaintiff-side employment law.
  • Strong legal research and writing skills, with attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with managing discovery and drafting motions to obtain key documents.
  • Working knowledge of federal and state civil procedure.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment, including collaboration with paralegals and other staff.
  • A proactive approach to growing the firm’s employee representation practice.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited institution.

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in California (California Bar membership required).

Skills:

  • Exceptional legal research and writing abilities.
  • Strong knowledge of employment law and civil procedure.
  • Ability to manage complex discovery processes.
  • Effective negotiation and courtroom advocacy skills.
