A law firm seeks an experienced Immigration Attorney to join its thriving practice in Los Angeles. This is an exciting opportunity for an attorney with 1-4 years of experience in immigration law to take on a diverse caseload, engage with clients, and collaborate with a team of skilled legal professionals. The ideal candidate will have experience in various immigration processes, including family-based petitions and removal defense, and will be passionate about advocating for clients in need.

Duties:

  • Provide expert legal advice on immigration issues and devise strategic solutions for clients
  • Represent clients in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals
  • Manage a caseload of diverse immigration cases, ensuring all deadlines and client needs are met
  • Conduct intake interviews with detained individuals at detention facilities
  • Prepare and review a variety of immigration applications, including family-based petitions, removal defense, and USCIS applications
  • Work closely with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community organizations to address changes in immigration law
  • Meet with prospective clients for consultations and advise on appropriate strategies
  • Develop legal strategies and prepare clients and witnesses for court and USCIS testimony
  • Provide thorough legal analysis and counsel to determine potential benefits for each case
  • Draft and submit legal briefs and other documents related to immigration matters

Requirements:

  • 1-4 years of immigration law experience
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to explain complex legal matters clearly
  • Ability to manage a diverse caseload while ensuring quality service and meeting deadlines
  • Experience with family-based petitions, humanitarian cases, EOIR proceedings, detained cases, and other USCIS applications
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred, but not required
  • Familiarity with case management software is preferred

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active bar admission (preferably in California)

Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of immigration law, including USCIS processes, removal defense, and family-based petitions
  • Exceptional legal writing, research, and analytical skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Client-focused approach with the ability to develop and implement effective legal strategies
