A law firm seeks a Family Law Associate Attorney to join its team in Hendersonville, North Carolina. This position offers the opportunity to live and practice in the picturesque Blue Ridge Mountains, just a short drive from Asheville, NC, and Greenville, SC. The firm, with over 20 years of experience in the area, primarily focuses on family law and criminal defense matters. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in family law with district court experience and a passion for delivering exceptional client service.

Duties

  • Manage a caseload of family law matters, including divorce, child custody, child support, and alimony cases.
  • Represent clients in district court, including attending hearings, negotiating settlements, and advocating in trials.
  • Draft legal documents, including petitions, motions, and settlement agreements.
  • Provide legal advice and counsel to clients on family law matters, ensuring clear communication and understanding of legal options.
  • Work collaboratively with other attorneys and support staff to provide the best possible outcomes for clients.
  • Handle client communications and maintain strong professional relationships.
  • Stay up to date on changes in family law and relevant case law to ensure effective representation.

Requirements

  • A minimum of one (1) year of experience practicing family law, with experience in district court.
  • Active membership in the North Carolina State Bar or eligibility to practice in North Carolina.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to draft clear and persuasive legal documents.
  • Experience negotiating settlements and advocating in court.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases efficiently and meet deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Licensed to practice law in North Carolina (NC Bar required).
