Job Overview: A law firm is seeking an experienced Immigration Attorney to join its growing team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of experience in immigration law, with a strong focus on representing clients in immigration court, preparing filings, and handling various petitions. Location:

  • New York, NY

Duties:

  • Represent clients in Master Calendar and Individual hearings before the Immigration Court in New York and other jurisdictions.
  • Attend Adjustment of Status, Stokes, I-751, and Naturalization interviews.
  • Prepare and file motions, joint motions, evidence, and correspondence with the Immigration Court and Office of the Chief Counsel.
  • File Notices of Appeal and Appellate briefs with the Board of Immigration Appeals.
  • Prepare and litigate Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS) petitions before the New York Family Courts.
  • Supervise and guide experienced paralegals in their work.
  • Visit clients detained in immigration and criminal facilities.

Requirements:

  • At least 2 years of experience in immigration law.
  • Fluency in Spanish is preferred.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to represent clients in complex legal proceedings.
  • Proficiency in preparing legal documents, including motions and petitions.
  • Ability to supervise and mentor paralegals.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the New York State Bar (required).

Skills:

  • Extensive knowledge of immigration law and procedures.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple complex cases simultaneously.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Spanish language proficiency is preferred.
