Duties

  • Manage a caseload of 25-35 clients facing DUI and related charges.
  • Collaborate with a dedicated legal assistant to ensure effective client care.
  • Interpret laws and explain legal options to clients.
  • Develop and execute case strategies tailored to client needs.
  • Represent clients in court proceedings, including arraignments, hearings, and trials.
  • Litigate administrative hearings to contest driving privilege suspensions.
  • Negotiate with prosecutors for favorable case outcomes.
  • Conduct legal research, draft motions, and present arguments in court.
  • Stay current with DUI law developments through regular training.

Requirements

  • J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Active and good standing with the Oregon State Bar.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in criminal law as a defense attorney, prosecutor, or in a judicial role.
  • Familiarity with metro-area circuit courts (Clackamas, Multnomah, or Washington County).
  • Preferred experience in DUI defense and felony cases.
  • Additional consideration for candidates with Washington State criminal law experience or Spanish fluency.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Licensed to practice law in Oregon and in good standing.

Skills

  • Strong courtroom skills and the ability to handle a full caseload independently.
  • Excellent legal research, writing, and communication skills.
