Job Overview:

Duties:

  • Provide strategic guidance and clear explanations of immigration laws and procedures.
  • Represent clients in both detained and non-detained removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA).
  • Oversee and manage a caseload, ensuring deadlines and client expectations are met.
  • Conduct intakes with detained individuals at immigration detention centers.
  • Prepare and file various immigration applications, including removal defense, family-based petitions, and citizenship applications.
  • Review and amend immigration applications to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community-based organizations on immigration law issues.
  • Provide legal consultations and advice to prospective clients, crafting tailored immigration strategies.
  • Prepare clients and witnesses for court appearances and USCIS testimony.
  • Draft and submit legal briefs for a range of immigration cases.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 1-4 years of experience in immigration law.
  • Experience handling family-based petitions, humanitarian cases, EOIR matters, legal writing, detained cases, and USCIS applications.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and prioritize workloads effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in case management software is a plus.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in California.

Skills:

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analysis abilities.
  • Ability to think critically and develop strategic immigration solutions.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy in legal documentation.
