Job Title: Patent Prosecution & Litigation Associate Attorney

Job Overview: A prominent law firm located in Nashville, TN, is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Associate Attorney to join its Patent Prosecution & Litigation Practice Group. The ideal candidate will be a registered patent attorney or agent with experience in electrical engineering, software, or mechanical engineering, and will have the opportunity to work on a variety of challenging patent cases.

Duties:

  • Manage and prosecute patent applications in various technical fields such as electrical engineering, software, and mechanical engineering.
  • Provide counsel on patent-related matters including litigation, licensing, and patent portfolio management.
  • Draft patent applications, responses to office actions, and other related documentation.
  • Work closely with clients to understand their technologies and offer strategic advice regarding patent protection and enforcement.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and handle complex legal issues in patent prosecution and litigation.

Requirements:

  • Between 3-6 years of experience in patent prosecution, with a focus on drafting patent applications.
  • Must have a degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field (such as mathematics or physics).
  • A strong background or knowledge in other areas of intellectual property is an added benefit.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Admission to the Tennessee Bar is required.
  • Registered with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, physics, mathematics, or a closely related field.

Certifications:

  • Must be registered with the USPTO.
  • Admission to the Tennessee Bar is mandatory.
